CRS Trustee Arne Goldman from Marous Brothers Construction recently sat down with News 5 Cleveland reporter Michelle Jarboe to talk about the challenges involved in the adaptive reuse of Cleveland’s historic school buildings, something Councilman Michael Polensek and the Cleveland Restoration Society have had to overcome in the past.

CRS actively led a three-year effort to have the Longfellow Elementary School rehabilitated and returned to productive use in the community. A team consisting of Vesta Corporation, Marous Brothers Construction and LDA Architects was able to successfully transform the Longfellow Elementary School into 30 affordable senior apartments and build another 50 additional living units on the site, a duplicable strategy when future schools face decommissioning.
