The Cleveland Restoration Society is dedicated to protecting and revitalizing the buildings, neighborhoods, and cultural landmarks that shape our region’s identity through our wide spectrum of programs.

From supporting congregations in caring for sacred landmarks to connecting homeowners with resources and loans through the Heritage Home Program℠. We stabilize endangered landmarks, prepare local and National Register nominations, administer preservation easements, assist with historic tax credit applications, and conduct architectural surveys.

We also guide rehabilitation projects, provide expert conditions assessments, and take legal action when necessary to save endangered historic sites. Every initiative is driven by the belief that preserving historic places also preserves the stories, traditions, and communities they represent.

The legacy of Cleveland’s ecclesiastical architecture is the focus of our Sacred Landmarks Support Initiative and our Historic Black Church Initiative

Northeast Ohio is blessed with hundreds of historically significant religious properties that represent the finest craftsmanship and architectural talent of their day. These interdenominational initiatives assist congregations in the preservation of the spiritual and cultural traditions that are imbedded within their historic properties.
