Registration is now open for our 2024 Community Luncheon, which promises to be a special one as we celebrate the first-ever UNESCO World Heritage site in Ohio, the Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks.
The Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks, which include five locations managed by the National Park Service and three managed by the Ohio History Connection, are monumental earthworks built between 1,600 and 2,000 years ago by American Indians. Within an easy drive from Cleveland, these enormous earthen enclosures were created with exacting precision utilizing alignments with the sun and moon. The geometric forms designed and built by the Hopewell culture astound us today in their vastness and accuracy. We’ll hear from Keynote Speakers Chief Glenna Wallace, chief of the Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma, who was instrumental in securing the UNESCO designation, and Brad Lepper, senior archeologist for the Ohio History Connection’s World Heritage Program.
Gathering business and nonprofit leaders, developers, preservation experts and long-time Cleveland Restoration Society supporters for an afternoon of networking, the Community Luncheon has become an annual tradition for over 50 years. Join us!
